Hudson Appointed to Fill Vacant District 9 Seat

Myron Hudson of Westville has been appointed by the WFEC Board of Trustees to fill the vacant District 9 seat formerly held by Henry Prescott in accordance with Board Policy 113. He has been a member of WFEC for 35 years and is a retired educator who manages a farm.

Hudson served two terms as Holmes County Superintendent of Schools and served in many other capacities as an educator in Holmes County for 33 years, including as Vocational Education Director and School Board Policies Coordinator, Student Services Director, Director of Adult Education and Title I Grant Writer/Coordinator and Principal of both Poplar Springs School & Ponce De Leon High School. He was also the agricultural teacher at Ponce De Leon High.

A graduate of Chipola Junior College and the University of Florida, Hudson also holds a Masters of Business Administration and Supervision from Troy State University. He also completed the Chief Executive Officer/Leadership Development program at Vanderbilt University.

He is also very active in the community, serving on various boards, participating in civic organizations and belonging to two farmers’ cooperatives. Hudson has been affiliated with organizations like the Chipola College Board of Trustees, Washington-Holmes Technical Center Advisory Board, the Washington/Holmes Cattlemen’s Association, Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, Holmes County Fair Board, Tri-County Community Council HeadStart, Holmes County Planning Commission and the Chipola Regional Jobs & Education Partnership Commission. He has also served as Past-President and Chairman of the Board of the Bonifay Kiwanis Club and as the Vice-Chairman of the Holmes County Cancer Society.

Hudson and his wife, Susan, have three children: Lindsey (Hudson) Smith, Kyle Hudson and Tiffany McKinney – all of whom have followed their father’s footsteps into the education field. His two sons-in-law and daughter-in-law are also educators. The Hudsons are also the proud grandparents of Gunnar Smith, Erilyn Smith, Ashton Hudson, Loren Hudson and Caden McKinney who will join the family in late March.

“I am very excited about my recent appointment to the West Florida Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees. It is indeed an honor to serve the members of our co-op as their representative from District 9. I appreciate the confidence placed in me to do this job and I look forward to serving,” said Hudson.

“As I accept my responsibilities to our co-op in this position, I reflect on the many years of faithful service rendered by our friend, Mr. Henry Prescott, as the District 9 representative and I am extremely grateful to him and his family for that service. Mr. Prescott’s love for the co-op and his community will be remembered for years to come,” he continued.

Some of Hudson’s goals for his time on the board include working diligently with other trustees to ensure delivery of services to its members as efficiently and economically as possible, to facilitate an attitude of harmony on the board to most effectively serve all members and maintain a fiscally sound operation that will continue to keep pace with growing demands within the membership while looking intently at the horizon for innovative measures to accomplish the tasks at hand.
