WFEC Mourns Loss of Trustee & Friend Henry Prescott, beloved member of the cooperative’s board of trustees and lifelong Holmes County resident, passed away on September 12. Prescott lived in the Pine Log community on Highway 81 for over 80 years and along with his late wife, Rochelle, raised five children: Joan, Scotty, Jean, Paul, and Jerry.Prescott also had five grandchildren to boast about, especially when it came to ball games. In fact, in addition to fishing, which he truly loved, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games and bragging on their performances just as much – a true grandparent in every sense of the word. He also had a longandvaried work history; owning and operating a grocery store in the Pine Log community for over 50 years. During this same time he also owned and managed a cattle ranch and timber farming operation. Prescott was also very active incounty and community affairs. He was a former member of the Holmes County Planning Commission and FHA Board. At the time of his death, he was an active member of the New Hope Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Gideons International, and the Pine Log Volunteer Fire Department as well as a West Florida Electric Board Member. During his tenure on the cooperative’s board,Prescott played a key role inmany major accomplishments that have benefited WFEC’s member owners. Some of theseaccomplishments includethe passage of the mail ballot proposal, approval to install and implement the prepaid metering system, approval and implementation of the automated meter reading upgrade, approval of the bio-fuel electricity production process in partnership with Waste Management Corporation and approval of the Graceville Industrial Park land sale for the construction of the Graceville Prison Work Camp. Prescott served on the board’s Member Services and Finance and Administrationcommittees. Prescott believed that through hard work, dedication, team spirit, and education that challenges looming ahead for the utility industry could be met and overcome. These same characteristics define the life of Henry Prescott. Mr. Henry will truly be missed by the WFEC family, but his legacy will live on through the many contributions he made while serving on the board of trustees as well as the positive impact he made in the communities he served with such loyalty for so long.
