Whether you’re new to Washington County or have lived here for years, we’d like to share with you how UF/IFAS Extension Washington County can be of service to you! The event will feature informational displays, educational materials, and opportunities for participants to meet with Extension agents on agriculture, natural resources, residential horticulture, family and consumer sciences, and 4-H youth development topics. You’ll learn about our upcoming hands-on workshop and learning experiences in home landscapes, lawn care, gardening, pasture health, weed control, wildlife habitats, 4-H opportunities for young people and volunteers, and housing, health and wellness. Door prizes and light refreshments.
Garden to Table Workshop: Fall Gardening
Saturday, September 12 9:00 am – 12:00 pm • Jackson County Extension Office, 2741 Penn Ave, Marianna
This is the first session in a 3-part series focused on growing and cooking food from your own garden. In this workshop, we will cover what to do this fall to have a flourishing vegetable garden, including best practices for planting during the fall and winter months. Participants will have the chance to taste vegetables that they can grow at home and take home a variety of seeds to get started. The series will continue with a session on winter herbs and another on temperate fruit. Each workshop is $15 per person or you can register for all three at once and save $10.

Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Exam Prep Class

UF/IFAS Calhoun, Jackson, and Bay County Extension will host a Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM) Exam Prep Course. This one-day exam preparation class is designed to help participants prepare for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM) pesticide applicator license examination. The LCLM license is designed for commercial, for-hire landscapers applying “Caution” labeled liquid herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides to ornamental plant beds around buildings. The class will be held at the UF/IFAS Extension Calhoun County office, located at 20867 SE Fannin Ave., Blountstown, FL 32424. Registration is $30 per person. Multi-County Private Well & Water Quality Workshop

As a private well owner, you are responsible for ensuring that your water is safe to drink. Do you know how well water can become contaminated or have questions about testing? If you want to learn about steps you can take to help ensure your drinking water is safe and about what you can do to help protect groundwater quality, join us at our upcoming workshop. We will discuss how private wells and septic systems work, testing, and ways to protect your drinking water quality.
Registration is $5.00 per person, and you may attend in-person or online. Free water testing is available for the first 30 households and additional testing options are available. 2026 Cold Hardy Citrus Field Day

Commercial citrus growers across the Florida Panhandle, South Georgia, and South Alabama are invited to attend the 2026 Cold Hardy Citrus Field Day. This field day is an annual event that will focus on new field data and citrus grove management techniques of the cold hardy citrus industry in North Florida. Growers will get hands-on experience through physical field tours and demonstration. Growers can also earn Florida, Georgia, and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education Unites (CEUs), as well as access to a full industry tradeshow. Admission is $10.00 per person.
