You depend on reliable power. We’re here to provide that power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. But if an outage should occur, rest assured that we’re here to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. By far, the easiest way to report outages is by texting.
A. The first time you use the service, text WFEC to 800-342-7400. You will receive a welcome message with instructions about how to report future outages.
B. After following the instructions, you will be able to text OUT to 800-342-7400 to report any outages in the future.
C. To receive updates, text STATUS, text HELP for more information or text STOP to unsubscribe from the service. Once power is restored, a text confirming outage restoration will be sent to you.
To use the outage texting service, members must have a mobile number associated with their account. Only one mobile number may be listed on each account for outage texting. When using the outage texting service, please note that if your cell phone number is not listed as a contact number on the cooperative’s billing system, you won’t be able to use the outage texting service. If your number is not listed, you will receive a text letting you know to contact the co-op by phone to report your outage via the outage management system. If you text OUT to report an outage but don’t respond to any questions you are asked, you’ll be told the outage was not reported and to respond or call in. If you have multiple meters, the system will ask if both meters are out.
If you’d like to avoid messaging and data rates from your cell phone provider, WFEC has also added an outage reporting feature to its mobile applications for both Android and IPhone users. You can download it
in your phone’s app store. This allows members to report outages from the mobile apps as well as view the outage map to determine where outages are occurring on the WFEC system. To utilize the mobile app to report outages, members must have a password to log in. Please contact your local district office to set up this feature.
If you experience an outage, you can also quickly and easily report it by calling 844-688-2431 (844-OUTAGE1). Consider keeping the outage number in your contacts list, so you’ll have it handy if you need it.
Before reporting an outage, first check to see if your neighbors’ power is out. If their lights are on, check your fuse box or circuit breaker to make sure the problem isn’t a blown fuse or a tripped breaker. If this is not the issue, please report your outage.
Also, be sure to update your phone number with us by contacting a member service representative. Our reporting system uses the phone number listed on your account to find your account information. During the outage reporting process, if you input your cell phone number but your landline is the only number on your account, the system will have a harder time locating your account information. This may delay our response time to your outage.
We are on call to restore your service, day or night. You can also track outages and restoration progress by viewing our outage map at westflorida.coop/outages or by utilizing our mobile app.
Your cooperative is connecting you to convenience 24/7.
