Your West Florida Board of Trustees has appointed Tim Alford, of Grand Ridge, to fill the District 2 Board of Trustees seat left vacant by the passing of long-time trustee, Mr. Eugene Alford. Tim Alford has been a West Florida Electric member, living in District 2, for 34 years.
Mr. Alford retired from the Florida Department of Corrections at the rank of Colonel, after a 31-year career with them. As Colonel, he reported to the warden and he personally supervised in excess of 500 employees and was responsible for community relations. He taught Criminal Justice at Gulf Coast State College, participated in over 670 advanced training hours, was awarded several distinguished awards, outstanding service and dedicated service awards and obtained a wide range of instructor certifications.
Mr. Alford is a self-employed, row crop farmer. He grows soybeans, cotton, peanuts, corn and watermelons and maintains a family garden, sharing the fruits of his labors graciously.
He was born and raised in Jackson County and is a lifelong member of Shady Grove Methodist. Mr. Alford attended both Chipola College in Marianna and Florida Gateway College in Lake City. Tim has two children, Timothy Alford and Trudie Alford, and two grandchildren. He is also an active member of the Florida Peanut Producer Association. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, gardening and hunting.
Mr. Alford says one of his goals is to serve all the members and employees of the cooperative with loyalty and integrity and he wants our members to know that he is grateful for the opportunity. 22678001
The board and management staff are looking forward to working with Mr. Alford. He is the first trustee to serve on West Florida’s Board to have achieved his level of management experience with the Florida Department of Corrections, a major employer in our four-county service area
